Bengaluru-based tech giant Infosys recently confirmed its plan to expand its Canadian operations to Calgary.
It will bring 500 new jobs to Calgary therefore doubling its Canadian workforce to 4,000 employees by 2023.
Moreover, Infosys has produced about 2,000 jobs across Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, and Montreal the last two years.
It plans to generate more employment across the country for further expansion.
The company has also won ‘Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award’ for the best place to work in Canada.
However, it aims to hire tech talent from fourteen educational institutions across the country.
This includes University of Calgary, University of Alberta, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, University of British Columbia and Waterloo.
Calgary expansion will authorize Infosys to augment work with clients in Western Canada, Pacific North West, and Central United States.
This is across various industries comprising natural resources, energy, media, retail, and communications.
The goal is to develop a strong pipeline to boost the skills needed to accelerate digital transformation.
Further, Top Employers Institute has certified the company as the Global Top Employer.
Also, the regions covered include all of North America, APAC, and Europe.
Mayor Nenshi claimed that the plan’s objective to diversify the city’s economy is working.
He further added that the focus is to ensure that Calgary is a great place to make a living.
The utilisation of talent and opportunity existing in Alberta will lead to economic recovery and growth.
Moving forward, Infosys was trading at Rs1350.35 per share up 0.50% on Sensex at 12.54 pm.
