Bids are invited from Importers for Supply of Red Onions – Co-oprative Naved

On Saturday,

Cooperative Nafed said that the bids are invited from importers for supply of red onions so that domestic availability can get better.

Last date of biding will be 4th November.

And there are two places where shipments will be delivered that is Jawaharlal Nehru Port and Kandla ports.

Nafed Additional Managing Director S K Singh said that there will be criteria for the evaluation for the bids.

And that will be how early someone bid, volumes, quality and early date of shipment.

Bidders will supply proper onions with no fault in it.

Last year,

Nafed imported as well as distributed onions but this year it wanted that the supplies from importers so that shipments could arrive fast.

The size of the onion is also a big concern.

Last year there were big onions distributed but in Indian market nobody consumes big onions.

Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal said: that 7,000 tonnes of onion have already been imported.

Another 25,000 tonnes will be imported in a few weeks.

The government is hoping and believing that the several measures which are being taken recently including a ban on export of onion.

Stock limits on traders will help ease pressure on prices during the festival period.
